"And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ ..." - Ephesians 4:11-12

R.A. immigrated to the US in his early teens and soon after accepted Christ when he began searching into what it meant to be a true man. He grew up on the north side of Chicago and earned a degree in Electronic Engineering and worked as an executive for 25+ years in the Information Technology Industry. During this period, he went back to school for his MBA degree from Kellogg Business School. While working in the electronics industry, R.A. lived in Japan for two years and has traveled extensively to the Far East and Europe for business. He was in ministry in a co-vocational fashion for 27 years but was called to full-time ministry 15 years ago when he became an Executive Pastor. During this period, he returned to school again and finished his Master’s in Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. R.A. and his wife, Martha, are blessed to have two children and two grandchildren.
Director of Student Ministries: Daniel Schoof
Daniel became a believer in Christ when he was in high school. During that time, he felt the Lord leading him to attend the Moody Bible Institute. The opportunity presented itself and four years later, in 2015, he graduated from Moody with a B.A. in pastoral ministry. Wanting to continue learning, Daniel studied at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and earned an M.A. in systematic theology in 2017. Having been involved in all kinds of ministries throughout the past 9 years, Daniel is most excited about and has a passion to see students grow in their faith. When he isn’t working, you can find Daniel spending time with friends and watching movies.
Director of Music Ministry: Peter Hang
Peter was born in Davenport, Iowa where his father was a Pastor. He accepted Christ at 17 and his faith grew when he was heavily involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. There he learned to play guitar and is when met his future wife, another “Pastor's Kid”, Erica. In 1994, he started attending Cornerstone Church where he has sung in the choir, played guitar and bass with the praise team, helped in High School ministry, Awana, small groups, member of the Deacon board, and is currently our Director of Music Ministry. When not at Cornerstone as a volunteer, he is helping a large denominational church organization pastors understand their retirement benefits. Peter and Erica have four children ranging from grade school to high school who all cringe at their dad's jokes. He has been to 48 of the 50 States and recently checked an item off his bucket list when he did a tandem skydive on his birthday
CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR: Emma Biggins
Emma became a believer in Jr. High and continues to grow as she mentors many young students and leads in different ministries. In addition to her work as a part-time Church Administrator at Cornerstone Church, she is also working as an Inclusion Companion. Emma previously worked as an Administrator Assistant at a local church and has great knowledge of the workings of churches and what this particular role entails. Emma is passionate about inclusion and has a dream of one day having all churches be entirely inclusive and neurodiverse. When she is not working, you can find Emma at a local coffee shop, spending time with friends and family, or enjoying the outdoors (especially when it comes to camp).
FACILITIES & MAINTENANCE: Jack Ewing
Jack has been going to Cornerstone since 1987 and helped with repairs around the church before being asked to join full time. Now we are blessed with his ability and talents of building management and maintenance of facilities. The hard work that he does around the building such as all the cleaning, yard work, snow plowing, building repair, etc is what keeps Cornerstone going. He does full-time work in both the building and parsonage. Jack became a Christian at the age of nine in Vacation Bible School at Winnetka Bible Church which he attended until He was about 25 or so. When Jack is not working you can find him playing ice hockey once in a while or visiting with his six children and his two grandkids.
"Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood" Acts 20:28
The Elders of Cornerstone Church shepherd the flock by guarding, feeding, and overseeing those who have been entrusted to them. We praise God for these godly men called by God and approved by our congregation.
"For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus." - 1 Timothy 3:13
The Deacons of Cornerstone serve our congregation by caring for the many physical needs of our buildings and grounds. We are grateful for these qualified men of character and dedication to our people.
"I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well." - Romans 16:1-2
The deaconesses of Cornerstone serve the body in a variety of ways from planning wedding and baby showers to assisting with funeral needs for grieving families. They also keep areas of our church clean and tidy, prepare the elements for the Lord's Supper and provide meals for families in need.
Thank you for joining us in praying for our Pastors, Staff, Elders, Deacons, and Deaconesses as they serve our congregation and community!
